Borderline personality disorder (BPD) is a mental illness. It is a serious mental illness. It usually begins in teen age  or early 20s. Women suffer from borderline personality Disorder more than men.

Borderline personality disorder affects thoughts, emotions, feelings and behavior towards oneself and others also. It deteriorates the ability how you relate to others and how you behave.

– Patient of borderline personality disorder may show suicidal threats or self-injury.

– Patient of borderline personality shows mood swings. Mood swings last from a few minutes to hours to few days. Mood swings can include happiness, aggression, irritability, shame, guilt or anxiety.

– Patient of borderline personality disorder has inner feelings of emptiness and a void in heart.

– Patient feels loneliness from inside.

– Patient shows inappropriate, intense anger like frequently losing temper, being sarcastic or bitter, or having physical assault.

– Patient of borderline personality disorder may have multiple sexual partners. Sometimes without any feelings patient indulges in sexual activities with new people.

Cause Of Borderline Personality Disorder:

There’s no exact known cause of borderline personality disorder. There are multiple hypothesis and researches about this. It is believed to be a combination of multiple factors. Some factors are endogenous to the brain and some environmental factors are also responsible.

Genetics:

Some patients are prone to develop borderline personality disorder due genes passed down through the family. External environmental factors can trigger it, such as history of physical or sexual abuse or neglect.

Patient with borderline personality disorder finds it hard to control emotions and behavior. Due difficulty in managing emotions and behavior it can cause unnecessary risks.
